Trade of the day

Blackpool v Cardiff   15.00pm

The Championship play off final that, according to the informed financial boys from the City, is worth about £90 million to the winner. With such high rewards at stake it would seem logical to judge this game as being a tight low scoring affair. The controversy surrounding the appaling state of the Wembley pitch adds further weight to this view. Tricky playing conditions and a tricky match to forecast correctly

A very difficult match to call so we will go with the quite generous odds on Blacpool with backing Cardiff on the CS as our insurance

BACK 0-1/0-2/1-2/1-1

Post match roundup

Another of those freak matches where 5 goals were scored in the first half (and none in the 2nd). Our stock in trade style of football trading – using 2 markets with one as a kind of insurance – is not equiped to deal with such bizarre outcomes. Punters with straightforward bets on Over 2.5 goals would have been delighted of course but that simply is not how we generally approach trading.

At 2-2 and the goals flying in so fast that deliberations on how much to lay our CS green scorelines were just that. Nothing clawed back from the large green on 1-1 we were looking at one sole escape – a goal from Blackpool. It was a 2/1 shot by this stage….and the trading gods came to our rescue on the stroke of HT. 3-2….and an acceptable £20 loss.

As a footnote to the above we traded the CL final with an ease & confidence so lacking in the afternoon`s game. 2-0 to Inter and the £20 loss was recovered pound for pound.
