Off with his H2H!

Recently, this author became embroiled in a debate over whether or not head to head stats actually have any bearing on the outcome of a game about to be played. This is very subjective and whilst my game research will be focussed on recent and current season form, head to head stats will feature in my thinking before making a decision on how to trade said game.

When Bolton played Chelsea this season, in our members chat room, I made mention that Bolton hadn’t scored against Chelsea at home for nine years (something along those lines). One of our, now ex, members suggested this stat was utter twaddle and certainly not worth anyone’s attention. It was not solely based on the above stat, but 90 minutes later Chelsea had won 0-4, Bolton still hadn’t scored against them, my back Chelsea to win to nil trade had come out with a very nice green.

Head to head stats should never be the reason or foundation of a trade but they certainly should be used to help confirm or deny the trade you have in mind.

Stay green.
